Scissors ( Wedge & Lever)

The scissors includes the simple machines, wedge and lever, allowing it to transfer the effort done at the handles to work done by the blade. They also have the wedge to separate the material into different pieces.

Suitcase (Wheel and Axle, Lever)



This suitcase has a handle that acts as a lever. Also, it has wheels on the bottom so the user can roll it. Look at the beautiful tile floor. 9/11/13, Blanton Dorm.

My Bicycle (Pulley & Gears)

The levers on which the pedals are attached turn the gears in a basic chain and pulley system. The rotation of the gears rotates the bicycle wheel initiating motion.

This picture features a class 1 lever. The fulcrum is in the middle while the weights are the load and the handle bars are the effort.

I took this in my apartment. This is one of my favorite third class levers (when it is hitting a nail), the ever-useful hammer. My hand acts as the fulcrum, the effort is in the middle of the hammer, and the load is the nail I hit.

Caleb Cheung's Lever (Nail Clipper)

A nail clipper has two classes of levers. The second class lever is located on the handle and the third class lever is located on the tweezers/ clipping part of the nail clipper. This picture was taken at my home in Missouri City, Texas.
