Exercise Machine, Pulley and Lever

This machine has a lever and a pulley component. The pulley is the black wheel/knob that has a black rope running around it, and connects to the lever (headrest/gray metal bars with the attached cushion) so that when you apply effort/force to the headrest, you can indirectly move the load of the weights by moving the load on the end of the lever (which is applied by tension from the pulley's rope), which in turn moves the weights on the other side of the pulley.

Shampoo Cap (Wedge and Lever)

Explanation: This is the cap to my shampoo bottle. I may be completely wrong, but the actual cap is a class two lever (fulcrum is the end connected to the rest of the bottle, the load is in the middle where the cap locks, and effort is my finger pushing up on the opposite end of the fulcrum). Also, the white piece in the middle of the cap acts as a wedge and seals the bottle so that shampoo doesn't leak out.

The pulleys are used to hold up the load of the weights, and the lever, the arm bar, is a 1st class lever with the load from the pulleys on one end, the fulcrum in the middle, and the effort on the opposite end

Foosball Table (Lever, Screw)

September 13, 2013: 2:03 AM
By: Phillip Vuong
The metal rods that run horizontally across the table work as rotating levers (wheel and axle) to spin the undaunted foosball kickers. With the help of large screws through their backs to keep them firmly fastened to the rods, the acrobatic foosball kickers are able to perform endless backflips with high rotational velocities to send the foosball flying.

Adjustable Wrench

The entire wrench acts as a lever to convert the distance your hand moves into force to twist the bolt. The head of the wrench is adjustable because it contains a screw (a wrapped inclined plane) that allows the fulcrum to change size. Picture taken in my dorm.

Swingline Stapler (Lever, Wedge)

The stapler acts as a third-order lever to create a load on the staple, and the channels act as a wedge to bend the staple shut.
