Guitar- strings store elastic potential energy

This here is my guitar, and basically the way it works is that the strings store elastic potential energy whenever it is pulled back by the finger, and when they are released the potential energy turns into kinetic energy by vibrating.

Violin Strings (Springs)

The strings stretch across the bridge of the violin. Each string is very much like an individual spring that is held in tension by a peg (not shown).
