This here is my guitar, and basically the way it works is that the strings store elastic potential energy whenever it is pulled back by the finger, and when they are released the potential energy turns into kinetic energy by vibrating.
Location: The guitar is just in my room in my house! South Austin (I don't really want to put my address)

Violin Strings (Springs)
The strings stretch across the bridge of the violin. Each string is very much like an individual spring that is held in tension by a peg (not shown).
